Um... hey there, it's me and I have sort of realized that I have this thing called a blog and many nice and attractive people stop by daily to see if I have written anything that they can get a laugh out of (waste time at the office) and maybe I need to be a teeny bit more, shall we say, religious, about posting.
Because, dudes, it has been like a week and I am actually getting comments and emails asking if I have been involved in a nasty surfing accident or, perhaps, have I run off into the hills to live the rest of my life alone with the exception of some wild boar to call my friends?
A small point here would be that a vacation with one's children is simply your life in a different location. Meals (12 a day if you are my children) must be made and for that to happen the grocery store must be visited and that means driving the rental mini-van which of course leads to having to gas up the mini-van and don't forget to pick up some Sexx wax for my board while you are out, Mom.
Do you see? This is my life, 2.0, the Hawaii Days.
But, all is not grunge work in paradise. Because when I am not running the errands of the overworked, I am doing things like dancing to Elvira, in the rain, at a Bon Dance back in Manoa Valley, with approximately 200 Japanese Buddhists. They are honoring their ancestors. I am having a damn good time.
I am also keeping busy with things like judging the Miss Samoa Fa'afafine.
Have you clicked on the link? Yes, last night I was a judge for a Drag Queen contest.
My mother, who is half Samoan, was asked to judge by some friends and she in turn recruited me and the next thing you know I am sitting at a long table comparing notes with my good friend Christy as well as Hazel, Miss Fa'afafine 2002. Hazel is one of the best dancers I have ever seen and has the nicest skin as well... I am jealous of her pretty pretty fingernails and her obvious skill with makeup.
So, anyways, Miss Hibiscus, the rugby player who did a song and dance number to New York, New York, won by a mile. She was very gracious and totally stayed out of the slap fight which broke out between 3rd and 4th runners up.
Tomorrow my mother is hosting a birthday party for me (it was my birthday last Monday)... you know, the party, when asked, I said this about: I don't really want a party, but thanks. There are only 37 people coming so I guess I should feel lucky.
Sigh.
Aloha.

Happy belated birthday!
I remember reading about the Samoan ladyboys in Marie Claire a while back and I was fascinated by their story - how fun to be a judge!
Aloha. Have fun at your party, birthday lady.
Who won Miss Tutti Frutti and what did the lucky participant get to take home?
Hey..do you know you still owe me chicken salad. I never forget you know...
well, the runners up won a case of Wahoo...
Happy Birthday, belated. Hope its a wonderful year for you. And that sounds like quite an interesting pageant
Happy belated birthday! And have fun at your party..
Happy birthday! Did you ever get to see the Pirates movie with your husband?
I guess some qweek old birthday cake is out of the question then?
Hope it was a good one! And about time you're back!!!!
Happy Belated Birthday.
I would have loved to have seen 200 Japanese buddhist's rockin' out to Elivira. That, and a tranny concert would be sweet sweet sweet!
Happy b-day.
I especially liked the picture of the "gal" with the bananas. I'm not sure I'll be able to walk through a grocery store the same way again.
Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you're enjoying yourself in tropical paradise too. I've never been to Hawaii, but glad I could "tote" around with you!
Happy belated Birthday...and I'm envious of your judging opportunity! How fun :-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You sound like you're having a grand time! I think life in Hawaii would be more enjoyable than life elsewhere. Hard to compete with that beauty. I really must visit there one day!
I'm thinking you need to bring me back one of those banana bikini's so I can look as super good as the contestant pictured on the link! (You would like it better than my speedo, no?) :)
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Belated Birthday. You can only hope that one of your party guests will bring you the banana outfit in the link.
that is awesome! and dont worry at all about posting! youre on vacation. IN HAWAII! i doubt i'd post much either!
Glad you're back....I love the pictures!
OMG a drag queen contest? I'm so jealous!
Happy belated bithday
I am a little jealous that you got to judge, it sounds so fun. And the not blogging, well I get that. Vacation with kids is only a half vacation.
Glad to hear from you though. And happy belated birthday.
Happy Birthday!!!
Lisa
Happy Happy Birthday...
And I only have one kid... but the majority of my time was going ainf hanging out at the grocery store...
It seems like we ate an aweful lot...
and i am also sad to say that when leaving paradise we also carted away MANY empty wine and beer bottles to be recycled in the city... don't remember being at the liquor store nearly as many times as the grocery store... but it looks like it could have been on par...
Happy birthday in paradise!!!
Damn you have an interesting life. I get so excited when you have a new post because I can't wait to read what happened this week. I swear when I finally have a kiddo I'm sending them to your house to learn how to have fun.
YAH!! Happy Birthday to you, and what fun you are having!
And as always, your storytelling is cracking me up! Love the dragqueens, I could use some beauty tips from a few of them!!!

Sounds like you are getting a party whether you like it or not! Hope it is happy! Although you are in Hawaii..how could it not be happy? :)
Chica, happy happy belated - celebrate every single bday!
Souonds like you are having a great time. It's too bad life in Hawaii is so similiar to life at home, huh?? Damn. That shatters all our dreams of dashing off to Hawaii to live the good life. :) :) The drag queen contest sounds like a tons of fun! I wanna goooooooo....
Happy Birthday!! You're a cancer, (like me) I should of known.

I decided I needed to be the 37th comment- ha ha. Happy Birthday! I love the blonde- cute picture. Glad your vacation was good- it's rough getting back to real life, though.
Happy Late Bday!
YOU.ARE.SO.LUCKY. I can't believe that you ended up judging a drag contest!!! That is so god-damn funny!! And seriously, a rugby player won???
And was there really a slap-fight??
That sounds like one precious, priceless evening.
I would've flown down and just stayed the night to witness all of that.
37 people? Damn... Was it fun?
Happy Birthday again, Sweet-thang.
