Kristin is a big dork and should stop reading teen romance novels.
So, I just finished Twilight and yeah, Edward is pretty damn sexy... yummy and romantic and strong and... oh sorry, where was I?
Bella and Edward? That intensity that obsession that inability to cope... ugh, so very teen.
So very first love. So sweet and yet, ugh, so very get the hell over it. I am not sure I can slug through too much more of the, I love you but I am no good for you vs. Make me a vampire and it'll be fine.
Who am I kidding? Hugh is under strict instructions to bring the 2nd book home today (bookstore across the street from his office) or else... pouty wife warning, dude... be prepared.
Are you reading? What do you think? Does Bella ever become a vampire? What about this Jake kid? Do I need to worry about him? Why did he get so tall in like, 2 months? Also, can vampires and non-vampires have sex? I know Edward is all, "I might crush your skull..." but, can they?
Also, when did I become such a loser?

I can't tell you the number of my friends who have told me how much they love this series. Well, "told" is kind of strong, because in truth, most people whispered the admission. Teen vampire angst, what's not to love?
Guess I better get started on the series.
You're not a loser! And great timing for finishing the 1st book, the movie will be out this month.
All of your questions will definitely be answered in the next few books.
{If you truly want the answers, send me an email and I'll spoil it -- just don't want your readers to hurt me.}
Jennie - As you can see I have no pride and therefore not only do I not whisper, I blog about it... sigh. No sense of self preservation...
Koehmstedt - I am doing my best not to google any spoilers, but if I can't control myself, you'll be hearing from me!!
no shame in indulging in a little pop culture, how else can you explain american idol and all the other processed dumbed down crap we consume? i think the KFC bowl of failure pretty much is the bottom of the barrel. once you start eating those, just buy an ensemble of sweatpants and give up
Not to worry. I'm pretty sure there's some law preventing the words "loser" and "Kristin" from being used together.
I haven't read the books, so I can't comment. But I can tell you that I'm the same way about Harry Potter.
my bf is reading them and is obsessed now also. I must check these out.
Well, I read everything, from Patricia Cornwell to Dr. Seuss to Captain Underpants. Because potty humor, like vampires, never goes out of style. Right? RIGHT?!
I have to get this Twilight series thing. My almost-13-year-old is BEGGING for it. As in, she will totally shrivel up and die without it. All her friends are raving about it.
As for me? Right now I'm getting my vampire fix with True Blood.
My daughter and all her friends are reading this. I am counting on you to give me a heads up if there's any questionable content. If there is I might be interested in reading it =)
Van - The last time I ate KFC Bush Sr. was in the White House... so, for now, I'm safe.
Joe - Awww, thanks... I am passing this comment along to my children.
Jen - Cedric Diggory made me swoon...
Daniella - That's how I came to them... multiple recommendations from friends!
JuJu - Wait! Am I missing something? Should I be logging on to HBO??
Catholic Runner - Other than the fact human boys might seem a bit lame, she's safe. Bummer for us.
Oh hell! Now I have to read the bloody series...now that you are all obsessed! You will only want to talk to friends who "Twilight"
Biatch!!!
If you really want the answers, you can email me. (oh - I see someone already said that)
Also - you can skim the teen angsty stuff, a lot of which takes up many, many pages in book #2.
Also - did I ever tell you that the first 2 years of my college days were spent in Port Angeles? Yeah, right up the road from where Bella and Edward are RIGHT NOW!!!!! So, I, um, yes - I really loved these books for 2 weeks straight and I am now happy to have my life back!
Have fun!
And here's my take on True Blood:
I might be able to stomach it if Anna Pacquin did not bother me so much. The guy that plays her brother in the series is kinda hot . . . and naked about 60% of the time, so there is that.
I just finished book 2 and am on my way to bookstore for book 3. A little overboard on the teen love in book 2, hopefully backs off a bit in 3. I can't wait to read it though. Then I am hoping to get my life back :)
Definitely not a loser - I read all the books myself, although if you think Bella is annoying now, she might drive you a bit more crazy in New Moon. And yes, Jake plays a bigger part. I guess you'll just have to read them all to find out what happens!
AAAGH. I wish I could answer all of those questions but it would spoil the next three books. I wish I wasn't done with them - what a fun reading adventure!
yeah, I'm 35 and hooked too.
Dork is right!
NO SPOILERS. I cannot wait 'til you finish the entire series. The "...or will I crush your skull.." comment is a CLASSIC. Seriously, it's so good. You're going to love it. I wish I were a Twilight virgin just to experience the thrill all over again. ha ha ha It really is nothing more than very well written brain candy. Is there a better kind?
Sorry doll, I got nothin' on this convo. :)
You are so not a loser for loving Twilight. I have all the books, waiting for another (will Meyer publish it), and wanna see the movie although it looks super lame! Just keep reading the story and all your questions will be answered.
- a married 27 year old with 2 kids.
p.s. my husband read them too.
You and Jennster both. Sheesh.
Haven't succumbed to it yet. Am being a brat about it, as almost everyone I know has read it or plans to read it.
I also read ALL four books in about 5 minutes. I couldn't put them down... I thought at first they were just teen-y books, but OH did I get into them. ANd call me sick, but all I wanted was for Bella and Edward to get it ON!!!! I mean, they are teenagers and I am the mother of a 14 year old girl, what am I thinking secretly wishing they would just do it!
I JUST LOVED them... I was sad when I finished #4
Hi Kristin!
I'm a lurker delurking to say OMG I loveeeeeeee Edward...come for meeeeeeee!!!!!!
Ahem, I'm a 36 year old mother of 3 girls (one who is 13 and YES Sabinem I also wanted them to get it on and was all like, um my daughter is this age wtf?!)
I'm only on book 2 right now, I'm pacing myself so it doesn't end too quickly :)
WHAT?!?!? I need to start reading that. Especially when my guy leaves town and I am dreaming of seeing him again....
Too funny! My 14 yr old daughter started reading the series and was trying to get me to read it. I resisted as long as possible, then gave in and read the first one Twilight. It was like crack! By the time I started the 2nd and the 3rd I was stealing her copy (while she was reading it) and sneaking it back to my room so I could get a fix!
I loved them! Lets hope the movie does it justice :)
and P.S. I live 45 minutes from Forks! Now you're gonna come visit aren't ya ?
I spent the weekend reading 1 and 2 and I am trying OH SO HARD not to download 3 and 4 until this weekend.
We would never have dinner at night if I did.
LOL- i read all 4 weeks in a little over a week. i will tell you right now that book 2 hurt me physically so much that i had to get through it because it caused me so much pain. i thought i would be totally depressed if i read it slowly. it was affecting my mood. i just wrote about it the other day on my blog. READ EM ALL! HURRY!
weee! so excited to read the series too..thanks for the spoilers guys! :)
Hmmm. . .Are you a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan (the TV series, not the movie)? You must watch it if you like Twilight. Unlike Twilight (written by a Mormon woman who would probably never have her characters have sex)Buffy and Angel actually, you know, do it. And, yes, they can have sex, but no they shouldn't. I've only read Twilight and will probably run into my middle school students at the movie theater while I'm there seeing the movie alone (my husband wouldn't dare see it with me), but I'm addicted, too.
My only issue is that Bella seems a bit self-destructive and is that something I want young girls to be exposed to? Perhaps she rises above this in the books that follow Twilight.
Have not read them yet.... was wondering about them since my 12 year old daughter's friends are all "Let's go to the movie!!" I'm thinking if we are cheering for them to DOIT that perhaps this is not appropriate reading material for Super Girl (but okay for me)?
aunceok, powered thru 3 and 4 this weekend. my eyes hurt! it felt like an addiction i couldn't kick. it was such a pleasant relief to turn the last page this morning.
nicki
I got sucked into the books too. There are four now (the last is more than 700 pages) and yes, at times you want to roll your eyes. (I found Bella a bit annoying in first book. But she got even worse in the subsequent books.) I inhaled and finished the series in a week. Nothing got done at my house but I couldn't help myself. Felt compelled to read until it was done. Literary georging
I am so tempted to tell you how it all works out. (There is a happy ending for all of the trouble they get into).
And my big question is if Edward and his family can't be around anyone bleeding. (Like how he skips biology class when they are all pricking their fingers) what the hell does he do when she's on her period!?!
Have you finished New Moon yet? Is that why there is no blogging? Its why there is no blogging in my house... that and the fact that someone ate my hard drive - and I have to purchase a new one, luckily I had a friend who spent two days working on getting my profile off my screwed hard drive.... so that I didn't lose all my pictures - going to invest in lots of CD's to put my pictures on.
Hey Auntie Kristin! Emily and I love these 4 books yeah we have read them all about 30 times each...
BTW-You should definetly see the movie because Robert Pattinson (Who in fact played Cedric Diggory!) also plays Edward!!!
See you guys possibly next year in Hawaii but probably not,
Katherine Cooper
