Day 2ish

This is a Googled image of a Man - O - War which approximates the size and look of the
creature which nailed my younger son yesterday about the ankles...

One minute, laughing and playing, the next much shrieking and perhaps some howling...
Although the "OH F*CKS!" were all me.

Thus ended our first day at the beach.

Rum drink anyone?

Ugh! My niece grabbed one of those a year ago thinking it was a pretty shell. Someone told me to pee on her, but I went with cold water and lots candy.

Can I assume you've seen the early "Friends" episode when Monica gets stung by a jellyfish at the beach?

Jen - I have not... methinks I'll look it up on Hulu...

We love the daily recaps, will you keep going through the rest of your hols?

Kristin said...

Anon - Maybe... I am enjoying some much needed down time... boys are out walking the dogs and Eva is off having her hair cut with my mother... we always take a few days to just chill when we arrive...

Eeeeeeek!

Well, you're in the right place for a pina colada . . . or twelve.

Ouch!

I'm not sure which island you're on or if you're on a leeward shore, but box jellies typically invade leeward side about 10 days after each full moon. I think the last one was about 12 days ago. They can be really hard to see.

Unripe papaya works wonders on j-fish stings. Cut open the fruit and rub it on.

Okay that just sucks.... Is all well? If I ran into one of those you know it would be big allergic drama. Come to the great lakes.... less dangerous and you still have BIG water :-)

Kristin said...

GRG - OMG, my fear of lakes is legendary... shudder!!

DGM - You know, I was thinking that... I think we're like 10 days past the last full moon? Is that right? Anyway, there weren't many, but of course, one is all it takes!

Jelly fish are one of the MANY reasons I hate going in the ocean. Poor Jack! I hope he feels better.

BTW, I'll take that rum drink. I'll shoot you my FedEx account number and you can just send that along stateside. Don't forget the umbrella.

Which reminds me ...what are your plans for celebrating your b-day, Missie?

just got back from the beach - Outer Banks, NC. We saw a few jellyfish, but not too many ... and none of us got bitten. Oh well, back to reality.

Oh no! THAT HURTS SO BAD...POOR GUY. oops, sorry for the yelling...

Joe said...

Oh wow. Is he okay?

And I'll bet your son could have used a rum drink afterwards.

And to Jen's point, the first thing I thought of was the Friends episode, too.

Just tell Jake to put back the mystical tiki god idol he found and everything should be ok.
