So, just maybe snapping like an angry turtle getting annoyed at Jack's friend who was scared of Jones was kind of mean... but come on - a chihuahua?
There I was, trying to have a conversation with the pool man, and I had to excuse myself to tend to the shrieking 11 year old... the one paralyzed by fear... because Jones was in the living room! On the couch! And holy cripes, looking at him!
And maybe I was all, "Shut the F*ck Up!" "Oh for God's sakes, just walk by the dog already!"
But I said it with a big smile to try and convey that I wasn't really annoyed, merely offering direction.
Do not be afraid leettle boy, I mean jou no harm...

That is an effing FIERCE dog. Remember, size does not matter.
that's a cute kitty
Not sure how Senor Jonesie could scare anyone. He's about the coolest dog on the planet. So much so that my hubby wants to kidnap him.
And I can see Jones now giving him that, "Dude, chill!" look.
Clearly the boy has had a bad experience with a dog in his past. It happens.
So I guess he won't be visiting again any time soon? No?
What a weenie! (and now I'm not talking about the dog!)
If Jones' was yipping or barking at all, I'm with Jack's friend. When a little dog is all yippy and bouncing, I don't trust them at all. I think they're unpredictable. On the other hand, if Jones' was just laying peacefully on the couch like he is in the picture, then I'm with you. Suck it up, kid.
Jen - He frees bears and when he drinks beer, he prefers Dos Equis...
Furious - Don't make him claw your eyes out.
Shell - The kid is just sort of high maintenance...
Jill - Totally!
Maggie - Jones was taking a nap... the kid woke him up with his freak out... not only that, but, as the kid continued to yell, Jones just looked at him like, wtf?
There is nothing worse than a whiny "big kid". A little child I can excuse, but an 11 year old should have some coping skills.
I agree- suck it up, kid! Your dog looks sweet and harmless =) Although if it were a pet tarantula I might have acted similarly.
Jones' thought bubble: "Clearly Nino, you do not know that I am the most interesting pero in the world. Women looove me, bears fear me, and men, well, they want to be me."
Mucho besos Hones!
XXXX, Heniferra
Marisa - I should have showed him the Blythe photos... that would have really scared him!
Elizabeth - for me, it's birds.. keep 'em in a cage and we'll be fine.
Jen - Jones says, Oh, Henniferra, Te amo...
tI had a neighbor who was scared of the Yorkshire terrier we had as a kid ~ all 7 lbs of her. Reediculous.
Also ~ somewhat related, my friends male teacup chihuaua got a female Great Pyranese knocked up. I am forever in awe of the chihuaua!
I don't blame the child. We have a half Chihuahua/Dachsund and she is FIERCE! She will take you hand off! Seriously. Perhaps he has encountered my Gizmo and that's why your dog frightened him :)
This reminds me of Lady the Chihuahua, the seemingly sweet pet of one of my friends when I was growing up. One minute I'm all, "Come here, Lady! Come here, Sweet Girl!" and the next thing I know she's clamped her jaws around my top lip and I'm all, "AAAAGH! Someone get her off me!"
So, my sympathies go to the boy. Unless he's high maintenance. I have no sympathy for anyone high maintenance. (Having said that, I've seen kids scared of my sleeping cat. Come ON.)
Well, in little friend's defense, just yesterday while listening to the radio on the drive into work, they listed the most mean top 10 dogs. Chihuahua came in at #2.
Now poor Michelle up there apparently has a really mean dog --Dachsund was #1. Jack's friend better stay clear of that one...
Actually, there was some sort of poll on the nastiest dogs, and Chihuahas ranked in the top 5th nastiest dogs. They were even ahaed of pit bulls, if you can believe that.
Hones responds: "Mi amigos, lists may come and go. My love...well, it is a constant, never-ending force, never out of fashion and always en vogue. I love all those who love me and even those who fear me, because, simply, they are small minded and deserve my pity. A wise pero will always choose amor."
(I need to stop commenting after mucho saki or tequila!)
Henniferra
All that screaming probably scared poor Jones.
What a cute dog! We have the same problem with a few kids that come over and my dog is the fluffiest cutest thing. They freak out and it irritates me because my dog will lick you to death before she would bite. I attribute to high maintenance kids :)
I think that poll must have been rigged... Jones is nada but sweet... and really, even if he was nasty, is he going to do the same amount of damage as a friggin' pit bull??!!
Henniferra - Hones says, the next time you are drinking mas tequila, telefono por favor.
Hi I came here via Nitochka. I had a look through your blog. Nice blog...looks like we have a little something in common ( I read about your frequent flyer miles on your profile!!! Love how you put that!)
