I'll take it! My doc says I'll be needing a new one in five-seven years. Can you freeze those suckers? Heh. From the looks of that price list I don't know if I can afford to have kids!
Oh, I see the same anonymous commenter that has been visiting my site stopped by yours also. Hey anonymous-Bite me!
The cost of surf camp keeps going up (but man, it's awesome!) Are your boys doing the overnight one? If not, why not have them go surfing with someone who knows what they're doing (someone from the high school surf team who is willing to hang out for them for less than $895/week, for example, or Hugh if he surfs) and save yourself some $. They will learn a lot just by getting in the water, watching waves, learning their break at different tides, etc. There are lots of really talented kids out in the water who are incredibly awesome, and they learned without going to camp.
Five tickets to Hawaii--ouch. We just did that, and it was the best vacation evah!
DGM - both boys have been surfing since they were 4 and are pretty good... surf camp (this will be their 2nd year and yes, it's overnight) is a time for them to hang with their buddies and eat and breath surfing... when we get over to Hawaii (we spend every August there) they'll do the more traditional route of surfing during the day with their dad and cousins... I complain about the cost of things (but never to the kids as I don't want them to feel guilty when it's just me whining) but the truth is we're fortunate that we can afford to have our kids do what they want and participate in the things they love.
Fun fun! Need anyone to carry your bags while you go HI?? We got off pretty good this summer...only one week of sleep away camp ($500) and 3.5 weeks in SoCal with the grandparents(FREE!!!) LOVE IT!
Don't be fooled!! I happen to know that Kristen is from a very wealthy Los Angeles family - her father owns shopping centers all across the country - and her husband is a successful real estate entrepreneur.
Anon - your an ass. Really why do people feel the need to comment about what others have? F*ck - that is why I always have to be afraid of what I post. Enjoy every minute of your kids enjoying their summer - I complained today about the cost of fuel for our boat trip and yeah anon would probably say "why do you have a boat then? ugh - idiot. I'll stop now - BTW - my son is also going to surf camp for a week on Sanibel Island this summer - can't wait !
I won't even dignify Anon with a response back but he/she/it needs to shut it. . .that being said. we are freaking out about the cost of everything this summer too. Everything is WAY WAY expensive. Gas practically being $5/gallon doesn't help. I hope your kids have a GREAT summer!!!! But, you know how I feel about Hawaii. . .
Sounds like a great summer! Anonymous...just becasue someone has money (and seriously folks...do we need to know how much?) doesn't mean they can't complain about the cost of things. Most of us are GRATEFUL to have the means to do activities we do...but have worked hard to get it. I am sure Hugh works very hard to provide a nice lifestyle for his family. As for Kristin's Dad...last time I looked he is still alive and kicking. The money he worked so hard for is his...not Kristin's. Don't go assuming funny little things like that! Things aren't always as they seem...so don't be poo pooing others if you don't have what you want.
Anon -- I totally agree! I've seen first-hand the lap of luxury this family enjoys. For one, Kristin's closet (a wee bit bigger than my computer screen) boasts such labels as Exhilaration, Mossimo and other Target one-offs. She's so extravagant, I can hardly keep up. Also, she and Hugh have the nerve to show the rest of us the depth of their financial well by having multiple children and pets. When will the madness end!
And her father! The patriarch titan of the shopping malls! Clearly he has no concept of modesty, regularly flaunting his wealth at the local Mexican take-out place. Jimmy, how many burritos do you really need?
Krisitn, spend more quality time with your children, so that when they go back to school in the Fall, you will legitmatly be able to wash your valium down with that "skinny girl" margarita.
Oh, I hear you. I'm sending both of my kids to full-day day camp for eight weeks. A bus picks them up, their lunch is provided, a bus brings them home. It costs the earth.
But I'm doing it because it's the last year my son can go--he's 13. He'll be swimming twice a day, taking part in skits and tramp ball and all kinds of activities.
Next summer I have no idea what I'm going to do with him. And I sure won't have eight straight weeks of whatever I come up with as an alternative to sticking his face in his Wii and leaving it there all damned day.
BTW, I think if my kids were subjected to me all day every day during summer ...and couldn't do fun things with their friends at their summer programs ...they would think they were being punished for some awful transgression against humanity.

holy crap, surfing school is expensive!!!
FB - it is... it really is... so, um, about that kidney?
Yep, it sounds like our summer, only without the five tickets to Hawaii.
Instead, substitute that trip to England two months ago or the house we're about to start building in three weeks.
Hmmm... Maybe I should list some of my body parts on eBay...
Jen - I didn't know you were building a house? How exciting!!
I want to sell my kidney too!
We are going to Orlando for a family reunion and the cost of that plus the other summer programs is giving me an anxiety attack.
I loved surf school as a kid.
Hey, I heard this rumor that you need your kidneys for something. Can't be sure, but I think you may want to keep yours, just in case.
Phoenix - it's either kidney or porn! ;-)
Why do you have your children in so many activities? It seems you would be better served spending quality time with them over summer.

Anonymous - I really resent your comment. To judge when you have no idea what you are talking about... you're a nasty fool.

Michelle - someone always has to be ugly...

Anonymous obviously doesn't have school aged kids or she would know that kids like to participate in camps in the summer!

We might need to get a new car, so I won't be able to afford the kidney ... sorry!

Oh, Hawaii ~ can I come, too?
Sounds like your kids will be having fun this summer while you recuperate from selling your kidney :)

Anon - clearly, you know me so well that you can't even spell my name correctly! You've really got your finger on the pulse there friend...
Oh.My.God. Not only are your boys beautiful, they're surfer boys!
Once they marry movie stars, they'll pay you back.
Oh, and check my blog today and see what I look like!
I think my husband and I both need to sell kidneys. Water polo camp in Canada, Cheer Camp and COLLEGE are on our list of things to pay for post haste.
Jenn - when you say "college" I throw up a little in my mouth...
Live in FL, and my girls wanted to ice skate (go figure!).
$900 for two weeks, two girls, 9-3 (not even all day for this working mom!).
After day one, they love it. Don't know what they are doing the rest of the summer.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it anon.

New living room furniture will have to wait.
Oh, and by the way, Anonymous needs to find a more productive way to spend his/her time.
In a selfless gesture, I now offer my basement, which badly needs cleaning.
I'll throw in a vacuum cleaner, Swiffer, trash bags, and eight rolls of paper towels. Anonymous can have at it.
LOL - Kristin, I love your readers/friends!
Poppy, your a giver. Jenn, touche! Hah!

The horror.
