Hi!

I do love that some of you worry and send emails, all of which have the common theme, of, "Oh dear God, are you in the loony bin?" running through them... although you have good reason to assume the men in white coats have come to take me away, they haven't caught up to me yet.

So where have I been?

Well, for starters, trying to keep Eva off the pole...
<span class=

Protecting my kids from Giant Boots... because a boot that big? It. Will. Stomp. You. Flat.
<span class=
Can you sense the fear?

Mitigating sibling rivalry...
<span class=

Visiting the largest statue of the Virgin Mary in the United States...
<span class=
Can you imagine that, somewhere, there is a bigger one? Or that I drove my family all the way to Pine Bluff, Wyoming to see it On a 13 degree afternoon? Hugh bless him, says, "Of, course you did, you are a very random woman." Is that good? I'm saying it is.

Freezing the boys for fun and photo ops...
<span class=
it is 11 degrees outside... there is a reason we were the only fools people at the park.

Bowling for Yuan!
<span class=
You are looking at the most popular person at Chipper's Lanes.

Promoting Harmony(?)
<span class=
because nothing binds children together more than being forced to smile for a photo in front a big cow at the airport while their mother prattles on with things like, "Boys, like the big cows we saw all over London! Remember? Smile! So CUTE!" It's the collective hate towards parents that really cements sibling bonds.

The photos are all from our brief but oh, so very full, trip to Colorado over ski week... a week in which we didn't actually ski because, hello, did you read the captions? 11 degrees.

11 degrees leads to your children saying things like, "I think I am a warm weather person." and, "Next year, let's go to Mexico." and, "I fucking hate this bloody weather!"

Ok, that last statement was made by me.

Did you know that while in Colorado you can drive to Wyoming? And, if you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can continue right on up to Nebraska, just to say you've been there!

For a person who lives in California, a state in which driving for 10 hours will merely take you to other places in the state, this is exciting stuff.

As we drove over the state borders I would yell to the kids in the back seat, "I'minWyomingandyou'reinColorado!" &, of course, "I'minColoradoandyou'reinWyoming!"

Don't you want to travel with me?

The "pole"? Hmmmm, me-guesses it's the tram for the DIA airport.

Who are you again?

I've never been to Wyoming! Oh and the cutie at the bowling alley is a great photo!!!

Looks like you had fun, skiing or not!

If you're excited about driving to Wyoming you'd be orgasmic in Massachusetts. One can easily hit five or six states in ONE DAY. How great is that?!

okay, not really all that great, but still...

Glad you're not in a looney bin somewhere. Although, come to think of it, that question was never really answered, was it?

I want to travel with you! Especially after you've had a drink or two. heehee.

So happy you updated. Was wondering how the trip was going...

The pic of Eva and the pole and your caption made me laugh out loud!

Actually yes, I would travel with you. I'm peeing my pants over the collective hating of parental units that truly bind sibling love. It is so true.

I love spontaneous people like you, perhaps because I am one myself.

I was rather surprised that the largest Virgin Mary was in Wyoming...you would have thought that would be down in sunny Mexico.

I learn something everyday.

You know I was glancing over my list of Sage feeds and noticed yours and thought "Why haven't I heard anything from ELV lately??" So I clicked through and here you had a new post out and my stupid feed reader hadn't even picked it up yet! What's wrong with that thing?

Anyway, glad you're not "in the looney bin" though technically you never addressed that issue. Sounds like you had a nice trip--more pictures later? The statue was fabulous.

I think it would be an absolute hoot to travel with you ;0)

Hey, if Eva needs some boots to go with that pole...I've got 'em! (shreik).

Glad you're back! :)

Ha! I'd love to travel with you. Sounds like we'd be two peas in a pod.

Plus I know where a giant statue of Sam Houston is...and the worlds largest fire hydrant.

What fun! I love when other moms torture their kids for photo oppportunities! Never been to Wyoming either....

looks like a fun trip and yes, I would travel with you!

Why did you not drive all the way through Nebraska to Omaha and visit me? I am deeply offended.

I would have relished the chance to spend time with someone who says, "I fucking hate this bloody weather" because I can soooooo relate.

Your family is so damn photogenic, by the way, I love how they are all so gorgeous!

Looks cold, but fun!

Kristin it sounds like you had a blast! I do love to get out of Cali so that I can see more of the US in 1 hour instead of taking forever just to get out of the city we live in!

Loved the pics! AND glad you're okay!

Love the wee pole dancer shot :)

Ooops that was me. Not Little Shot.

I agree with Marmite Breath, your children are gorgeous! The boys seem to be skipping all the awkwardness that so many "tweens" go through and Eva is truly the most beautiful little girl (and stylish!)!

DIA is awesome. Next CO trip, take me with you. I'll only complain a little, and I can buy alcohol. Those short people can't. Think it over.

Looks like you had a great time! And yes, I would like to travel with you, because you have vacationed twice since my one, single, solitary trip!

Perstephone said...

That cracked me up... can you pass some of what you're having my way? Whatever it is, it sounds like it induces fun travel times and I'm in need.

You wouldn't be a complete Mother if you didn't torment your children. That's what we do.

Looks like a great vacay. So glad you're back. :)

You were so the girl in school who would say "see you next year!" before Christmas vacay. Weren't you?

Glad you're back. Oh, and my email had stronger "you're still getting drunk with me, RIGHT?!" overtones I think.

Your kids = adorability factor of 10.

Kristin said...

Lena - oh yes, less about the crazy and more about the drinks... which is ALL GOOD!

Welcome back! Sounds like a fun, albeit effing cold trip. As your Mammarazzi friend says, when life gives you lemons.... drive to Wyoming?

pfffttt, 11 degrees is like a fine spring day here in Sweden:-) I'm from the north of Sweden originally, where it's COLD the whole winter. I've been up there a few times in the winter with the wife and it's been -25 F while taking walks. Did I mention my wife is Mexican?!
It's actually not bad with good clothing.

You don't strike me as a person who will be bored regardless of where you are. Looks like you and the family had fun, glad you're keeping your daughter off the pole.....

That is one big ass Virgin Mary! And I think she's going to remain a virgin because, really, who can ... well, you know? King Kong maybe? :)

Those kids are very cute indeed. No photos of mom, huh?

And Eva does seem to have an unnatural attraction to poles.

How aome everyone can see the bowling alley photo but me????
I wanna see the bowling alley shot!!!
Love the other pics...
and sounds like a glorious road trip with a few Hail Mary's for good measure!!

Killer plaid (or tartan) coat of the Jun's. Do they do it in my size?

That sounds so funnnn! Enjoy. I laughed so hard at your line about the collective hate of parents binding siblings together.. HA! But these are awesome memories in the making for them, even if they don't feel that way now...
