Defend your blog from theft!
Although you might think that piracy is no longer a valid way to make a living, you would be wrong. Bitacle.org is currently reviving the job skills once important only to Blackbeard and Captain Morgan and has been busy plundering the seas of the Internet, stealing and uploading entire blog content in order to entice repeat visitors and readers to the advertiser driven website.
I am only one of many.
Katherine, or Mama Tulip, is shutting her wonderful blog down.
Although Bitacle has recently added a "copyright" addendum to the end of the stolen posts, it is too fucking little, too fucking late.
They have uploaded almost my entire blog... Including photos... this gross invasion has left any safety that I have felt with Sitemeter worthless... no longer do I have a clear idea of who is reading my blog, how they got there and just how long they stay... it makes me sick to my stomach.
And it pisses me off.
I have changed my "Feed" options, setting them to "short'' which should prevent further splogging, but I question if I too should shut down...

As there is very little I can do about the content which has already been heisted, I am not going to stop blogging... what's done is done is done.
However, I am looking into other blog hosts to see if any offer more protection from splogging (my favorite new word! spam + blog = splog).
Suggestions?

I noticed this a week ago. My entire blog was up. ALL of my archives. I shortened my posts to excerpts, so at least people are forced to click through. But, still...PISSED.
BTW, your feed keeps disappearing from my Bloglines! I just re-added it for the 10th time. Arrrgh!

I am sorry about Mama Tulip, too.
As you know, my entire blog was stolen, too. I also shortened my feeds, courtesy of Fueled by Coffee's suggestions. Hopefully, that will help.

They did it to all the ClubMom blogs..I don't know how they get away with it! I am glad you brought this to people's attention.
For what it's worth, I really hope you don't shut down - I enjoy your posts and like your writing style.

I am so sorry Mamatulip is quitting... what a bummer. They only got three of my posts, and I figure whatever, meh, I'm not that great so why worry?
It's a compliment of sorts, but it really sucks that they're thieving from bloggers.
What a bunch of assholes. Now I am not cool enough for them to have stolen anything of mine, but I found some of your and a few other people who I read all the time.

Have you checked into WordPress to host your blog? I've looked into myself just for posting purposes because when adding pictures, you don't have to repost the entire blog. Good luck!
Thanks for alerting me to this problem. As a blogging virgin, I had no idea this was going on. Please don't stop blogging because of this, just fight bitacle the best way you can.

I wonder if ASJA.org (US)or Cancopy.org (Canada) have anything on their websites that might be helpful. I'm a member of both organizations, but haven't checked out either site yet.
My posts were stolen too. I'm pissed, but mostly pissed that it's pushed some bloggers to quit altogether :(
