When FB and RL and the Internet Meet - Hells Trifecta

So, it's not quite the Devil's 3-way, but it's close. At least as close as a mommy blogger can get on a family friendly blog.

Despite a tendency to say "fuck". Ooops! I mean, "f*ck".

In any case, the whole Facebook, Real Life and Internet has been interesting... just as many of you, my friends from inside the magic MacBook are my FB friends, so too are my FB friends, the Real Life ones, now Internet friends and suddenly I think...hmmm, this Internet personality is the one I like a bit more than my real personality (are you following this? Wake UP!) because blogger Kristin wears a smaller size and has better shoes than Real Life Kristin and damn all these people who knew me when (read: pre 20) are thinking, who does she think she's kidding? Kristin? Isn't she the dork who read a lot of books and drove the cute car? Lots of cats?

And I'm all - No! Hush you naysayers of the past, it is now I, Kristin of the modern era and begone are the cats (replaced with many dogs) and who can read if it means staying up past 10 or missing Rock of Love? And Volkswagen Cabriolet? Faretheewell... we're talking giant SUV with "Obama" sticker.

Still a dork! But with more expensive sunglasses.

Anyone following this?

But, in other news... nothing. Happy Monday.

I've explained many times to the blogging community that I am in no way, shape, or form cool. That I am a Dorkus Maximus. And still, people don't seem to get how very UNcool I am.

I've known you since high school and I don't recall you being a dork.

I am such a dork. In real life, especially in blogging, and on FB too. There is no help for me I guess.

It's wierd to have people who know you read your FB, huh? totally freaks me the hell out. I do not want anyone I know in rl to find my blog. Good thing I only have 2 readers!!!!!! :)

Jen - Me too! That's why we could meet IRL and not be shocked.

Anon - Who is this?

Jodi - It is a little weird... I'm having one of those, "chickens come home to roost" moments.

Dork.

And that IS the pot calling the kettle black.

BTW, Real Life? You've been holding out on me.

Dorks rule! and so do white VW Cabriolets, and expensive sunglasses, and lots of cats, and lots of dogs, and Hermione hair, and Target/Nieman Marcus outfits, and well you get the picture.

Like attracts like...

well dorky was cool when we were in high school- good grades, student council, never stay out past curfew... the whole flashdance/pretty in pink/breakfast club cult thing was all about dorks...

in fact, i think it was even cool in college, and post college and parenthood....

and certainly now, as we stroll along in our very cute target/old navy/neiman/haviana outfits to school meetngs, coffee and endless errands, driving our oversize cars, we remain utterly cool in our dorkiness....

and as a FB, internet, and real life friend, i wouldn't have you any other way, trix.

Well....I would say you are far from being a dork. My nickname is geek with one friend and dork with my husband and daughter. I used to have the Cabriolet as well and now have a big car, without an Obama sticker but a 'Grace happens' sticker. I like my tech world...I don't have to shower or wear heels. And I have 95+ past students of mine I am friends with on Facebook! Yikes! Love ya!

Unless you put WAY too much thought into your blog posts, I believe you're the same cool person on and off the internet: The one who thinks brilliant stuff while cleaning up after the dogs.

Shell - So, 2 dorks walk into a bar...

Jenn - Hermione hair...we're bringing it back!

Nick - We were so good... it's amazing no one kicked us in our squeaky shins.

Ginny - 95 ex-students is a pretty fair assessment of coolio.

Sarah - You pretty much need to come visit me.

I am much cooler than I appear in real life. Or something like that. Might be my new tagline.

Hey, I succumbed to FB this weekend. Can I be your friend?

I have kept my blog and FB separate. Now, I have blog friends BUT they know my blog isn't something I share. soo...safe. but yes, I get it. It is weird...

So far I've managed to keep my blog separate from my real life, except in cases where I purposely introduce the blog to the RL (does that make sense). There's a part of me that wants people to know I have this blog, becuase of what I think it says about me and my writing, but there's a bigger part that likes to keep it as a safe haven and doesn't want everyone to know she takes anti-depressants. Funny thing this secret life, huh?
