Should I Stay Or Should I Rock The Casbah?*

Last night, as my family and I walked our dogs around the neighborhood, saying hello to neighbors and checking out the gardens and talking about Van's blog post (I know, it's like bringing your work home)... for those of you too lazy to click over, there was an overriding theme about choosing happiness... that choosing to be happy is harder than being miserable.

It's easier to be unhappy... it's easy to complain and moan and carry on... it's another thing to admit that difficulties, sadness and even sorrow exist, but to move through those feelings, and not as some sort of blissful idiot, but as a person who recognizes that life is challenging yet still joyful... they exist together.

And let me tell you, right now, we've got our misery.  We are up to our eyeballs in all sorts of matters of sturm und drang... bang the gong... but you know, we've decided to simply stick all of that stress in a little box, stamp it as fragile and let it sit in the middle of our living room where we will tiptoe carefully around it until it can be shipped off, without a return address, to parts unknown.

*There might be able to be a great deal of Californication watching in the meantime...

The GOP has me at my wit's end. I need to stop watching the morning news because it starts my day off on the wrong foot.

That's exactly what I decided to do with all of the adoption stress/ misery! It is sitting on our coffee table right now. Although I admit that sometimes I do take it out of the box and look at it once in awhile. But then I put it right back in.

And I love Californication! Every time it's on though I insist on singing "David Duchovny, why won't you love me". Every. Single. Time. According to the news lately, he totally WOULD love me. LOL!

Seriously though, sending good vibes to you and family that your misery works itself out soon.

Anon - I hear you!

Michelle - Is there an actual David Duchovny song?? I think I need to hear it... Our misery is more along the lines of getting through some new information... things change, and it's hard, but it will be ok.. we're lucky to all have each other.

I don't know what stuff is going on in your lives right now but I hope it is something that will pass quickly. Or at least feels less sucky after several glasses of wine.

I say get out and go to the fair this weekend! Nothing like fair trash, petting zoo's, and hot dogs on a stick to get rid of the misery. Hope things get better soon..

Stress sucks. Hope it passes quickly.

And you're right, you can't enjoy the sweet without the sour.

Call if you need me.

You know who this is.

Jason, as himself said...

Yuck, Krisin. Sorry. Good luck dealing with this stuff.

You are so right! Happiness really is a choice.

My husband is a huge Californication fan. I think Duchovny's trip to rehab is either amazingly ironic, or a huge publicity stunt.

I clicked, Van's post makes you reflect. I liked it. We are in a place right now where we could wallow, or find hope and happiness when things are good. Not all the time though, I just bottle my bitchiness and get it out all at once, then I feel better! Off to set up the pirate party- the mere mention of it spreads happiness around our home these days. Can't believe my boy is 3!
Hugs!

keep a sharp eye on the box, if it were me, I'd defintely trip over it when I wasn't paying attention and all hell would break loose. best wishes to you for some things to get resolved or fade away.

we just finished watching season one of californication - we loved it too.

Ok so I guess I've got to watch Californication now don't I. Last night, despite my hormonal roller coaster of doom, I dragged myself to see Maroon 5 concert with the girls. Nothing like a bit of Adam what's his name to get you in a better mood. Also to increase the joy, Counting Crows were support band! Always loved that dude and his crazy intense hair....
Getting out of the parking lot of the Verizon Amphitheatre however is a misery that should be bubble wrapped in a box and never opened again!
