We're Going To Need A Bigger Boat...

Quickly now, name that movie!

I know I posted for about 3 minutes yesterday and then I got all jinxy and superstitious and all "counting chickens before they're eggs is a bad idea" weird so I deleted... clearly, I am a freak.

Now, let's move on from the absolute soul sucking sorrow of this past week shall we?

The count is at:  2 funerals and 1 new case of breast cancer.

But there is always the funny which is what I am looking for... share your funny or sweet with me in the comments... tell me something nice that has happened in your life lately...

And I'll tell you mine... in between the tears and the worry, life marches on and for my 11 year old that means the final week of "Family Life".

Yesterday, he got in the car and announced, "Well, we're done.  We passed the books back and that's the end of it."

"So," I asked, "what did you talk about today?"

"It."  He said.  "We talked about it."

Oh, didn't you sort of already know about it?

Yeah, I guess.  I never gave it much thought.

Do you have any questions?  Anything need clearing up?

No.   Mom, I go in there, I clear my mind and just keep telling myself that it's just science.

I had the page with your phantom post up yesterday for a little while before I got around to trying to comment, then all the sudden I couldn't. I thought maybe I was hallucinating or something.

Sorry there's so much sadness in your world. As for happiness in mine? Let's see... Spike can roll over from his back to his stomach and back to his back. So that's pretty exciting around here. Also, we are (hopefully) 8 days away from our new house. How's that?

My daughter and I had to attend a class similar to Family Life. During the first class, which was just for the parents, the teacher handed out slips of paper with questions that students had asked in past classes. We were to read our question and tell the class how we'd answer it.

One mother got the question, "What does an orgasm feel like?" The mom answered, "I have no idea, honey."

Oh Ugh. I am so sorry things are emotionally tough right now.

Happiness: My new newphew looks like he will be born on my niece's 1st birthday tomorrow (okay, maybe yet tonight?). My BIL got a job which is great because my sister is expecting and was stressed due to him losing his job. My hubby finally got a job (it isn't great but it is better than a kick in the face). My son is at 5th grade camp making memories as I type! Oh! I forgot to mention that my nephew looks like he will be born on my parent's wedding anniversary -- I believe this is my mother's gift from heaven to my father.....

Wow. This happiness comment looks like it should move to my blog.

As for tough times... trust me, this too shall pass. Hang on to the glimpses of happy -- you are so smart to ask others to post them. When you are without hope turn to those with hope -- it rubs off!

<3 Hang in there!! ((hugs)))

Jason, as himself said...

"It." I love it.

Thank God for the funny stuff amidst the yucky stuff.

Sorry it sucks right now.

A funny: we've been doing bento box stuff for the kids and they're getting kind of snobby about it now. I gave them a cute little dinner and two of the cherry tomatoes didn't have food picks on them and Marie immediately held them up and snipped "People need picks!!" Rod and I nearly spit up.

Big hugs (and sorry my funny was so long and ramblish).

Anne Marie - he's 1??? Stick these babies in veal pens... they're growing too fast!

Grim Reality Girl - I'm living your grim reality, but I'm glad to hear your life is a little more sunshine and roses!

Sorry its kind of s*cky for you..... I came up with a funny thing that happened to me yesterday....

While working taking an airline reservation, I got a call from a mom flying with her two kids.... she wanted to know if she could bring copies of the kids immunization records instead of the original ones to prove her kids were healthy and up todate with shots. I had to clue her in that this immunization records were only required for pets traveling.... YIKES... I hardly could contain the laughter.

Marisa - Thanks, 11 is a pretty cool age.

Lisa - No way! Man, you send them off to school...

Lisa - Too funny! I guess she doesn't get out much??

Jaws. I mean...come on Kristin. ;)

"It" lol. Perhaps I should tell myself its science to ease the memories of the early years when "experiments" sometimes went horribly wrong.

Good stuff? Isn't the majority of life good? I think that's what makes the bad so difficult. It's such a change from what we generally experience.

Kristin said...

Joe - I know, Jaws is pretty obvious, but it's out go to quote around here when life gets out of control...

Love the IT...science, nice!

a funny thing...kinda.

Cammie loves her pacifier. We call it a binky. Her word...KINKY. MAMA, KINKY! We don't let her have it out in public for fear of her YELLING, MAMA! KINKY! And we leave for the beach, thank god.

Sorry about all the suck..

You know, I never got the "it" talk from my parents ... ever. I learned "it" stuff at school, and from my friends ... I'm wondering if I'd be in therapy if my parents had gone over "it" with me.

Kristin said...

Los - I never received "the talk" either.. thank the LORD! My mom was pregnant when I was 9 and she brought me home a sort of comic book style "informational" pamphlet.

good news...my son's oncology labs (taken every other month) came back showing he is still in remission.

While I think of all the children we know that lost their battle on this Memorial Day weekend, I also thank God that He granted healing to my son.

OMG, I totally thought Furious worked in "IT" too - the good kind, not the bad kind! :)

McRae's school talk is next week. I'll be needing a very tall glass of something cool after those days are over.
