Oh, you are NEVER going to believe this...

Last Monday I woke up at the beach house and I went to sleep at the hospital.

I mean really, who does this shit happen to? What 37 year old goes to the cardiologist for a 15 minute visit and ends up spending 5 days in the hospital?

Damn.

I am fine. I was fine the whole time I was in there (minus the whole stay-hooked-up-to-this-IV-as-your-blood-is-too-thick-&-so-you-are-a-HIGH-risk-for-a-stroke thing). Imagine, if you will, being in the hospital and not feeling sick.

Jail with a softer color palette.

My poor cardiologist had to bear my crying every single day when he would come in to tell me the lab results... numbers too low to free me from my Heparin chain.

The plus side is that all rooms are private at Hoag and I had a very nice one with both a bay and ocean view... also, they have cable TV, internet access (could read blogs, but not post) and pay per view movies. Let's hear it for the geniuses behind "GetWell TV".

Did you know that Friends is on like 10 times a day? Also, I am totally addicted to Cash Cab.

Will post details this weekend (because you know, funny shit happens in hospitals), but I just wanted to let you all know where I have been.

***

And I will spring the snark.

***

BTW: I have about 4 days worth of blog reading and commenting to catch up on, so please bear with me...

Glad you're okay and sprung from anticoagulated inpatient hell.

Yep, funny shit does happen in hospitals...that's why I nearly live in a hospital L&D. That can be a Springer episode all its own ;0)

Good grief, you really meant it when you said at the end of your last post you'd be back with a bang, didn't you?

Yikes. I'm so glad you're okay...I was wondering where you'd been.

Wow - I'm glad you're okay. Do you need anything? Let me know.

Sheesh Kristin. Glad you're OK. Do they have doing anything prophalactically to prevent this from happening again?

Kevin -- if you read this comment, no jokes about my choice of the word "prophalactic."

Yikes! Hope all is well and the jello there was better than the crap they fed my mum when she was in the hospital (I was 12, she didn't like it, I can never resist the jello).

OHGAWD. That's horrible. I really hope you are feeling better! Being in the hospital is the pits. I HATE the hospital. Hate it. I hope things are looking up. I can't wait to hear you stories about the hospital. Was it like "Days of our Lives" or "General Hospital" there?? :) Did you get to see any cute docs or male nurses or anything?

I'm so glad you're okay!

I got addicated to the food in the hospital when I had Leah. They had this whole menu we could choose from. The desert was crazy good.

Cash Cab is a favorite in our house!

Jeez, not a fun day! I am so glad that all is well, I know how hard that is firsthand (even with the entertainment being so good). I sincerely hope the best for you.

Sending a big hug your way and looking forward to the funny hospital stories!!!

Glad to see your smiling face!

OH KRISTIN!!!! I am so glad that you're home safe and sound. I wish that I would've known. I honestly would've driven down to visit you - I mean it...even if Hugh would've made me sleep with him, I still would've come down. HA! Sorry...I couldn't be too serious. Anyway, I'm really sorry that you had to go through that, but am glad that you're home.
You've been missed.
I just kept thinking, oh, she's at the beach house and doesn't have access there...little did my pea brain know.

my best is with you, sweets.

So I immediately came over here, and peed my pants in relief.

Damn Girl. That just stinks.
I hate it when that happens.
Been in anticoagulation hell myself.
Gotta love the in home Lovenox shots, eh? Got some left over pre-filled syringes if ya want em....

Glad your okay! Now be a good patient.

glad to hear you are doing well, I checked everyday for you -

Holly,

I envy you and your Lovenox! Because of my articfical valve, I have to go the Heparin route as the Heparin protects the valve better... believe me, I tried EVERYTHING to get out of there!

On the plus side, I caught up on a lot of movies...

Phew....
Big Wave said he spotted you crossing the road downtown today. Glad to have you back with us. I never thought they'd keep you there sooooo long. What torture... Even worse having everyone call you and say....
"Your'e still there!!!!"
That's the most annoying part...
"yes I am fucking still here you idiot - that's why I answered the phone!!!!"
Sorry for being one of those idiots.
Take your tablets now beyatch....
Your family can't take any more of this hospital nonsense....
(never mind about you....)

Oh. My. God!! I hope everything is okay. That's some scary stuff, lady, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

I hope you capitalized on that opportunity to catch up on your daytime tv watching. Something good has to come out of that bad situation.

Oy vey! glad you are ok - I've been in Africa and missed all of these antics. Are you caught up on every Jerry Springer show? Yikes....hospital stays blow chunks. Glad you are OUT!

Perstephone said...

Wow, I'm glad you're ok. Don't you hate being in the hospital when you're not really sick? I've been through it and it feels really perverse to be sitting there watching every single Meg Ryan movie when you feel fine but there are others in the same hospital with worse on their plates.

Suburban Turmoil said...

Okay. What. The hell. Happened.

I'm glad you're okay, but FIVE DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL!!!

What made you go in in the first place??
