A Moment

Last night I got upset with Eva and as I heard my voice rise in that special shrill way that only a mother of a 2 year old can understand, I looked at her little face, with the lower lip sticking out all pouty and yet, annoyed, and I thought of her birth mother. I thought of Eva being left at the gates of the social welfare institute, obviously meant to be found and hopefully adopted... and what would her family, if not her mother, then her father, or brother, or an auntie, give to be able to be in my place? Lucky enough to have her in their life to drive them nuts.

& I shut my mouth and picked up my daughter and kissed her naughty face and said a prayer of thanks.

Sniffle, sniffle. Every time I think about our niece all wrapped up on the steps of a hotel in Nanning, I cry. It is just too much. Big hug to Eva (and you, too, mommy)!

My daughter has good friends adopted from China...
And we thank our lucky stars for having them in our lives as well...
And as for the shrill of a voice...
a the terrible twos... Big hug your way...
Terrible twos... Rennovations, Big Job Offers, relocating to Hawaii for a stint with 2 boys and your gal pal...Hugh joining you later...
No stress on your plate...
Big Hug your Way...

That is amazing that you were able to do that. Two year olds are VERY trying sometimes.

Good for you.

That was beautiful. I think all us mommies have a moment like that. Right when you are about to scream at them you realize how precious you are to have them in your care. Then the guilt sets in... Good for you for taking a moment to realize how special she is. Found you through crazy hip mamas.

Perspective...it's all about perspective and recognizing it. It takes work to remember it, but is oh so worth it. wonderful post.
