Linky Love & Leaving

I am starting this post with a hello and I am sorry I am such shit and I haven't called you back since July 4th shout out to my girlfriend, the very lovely and talented Annmarie. Annemarie, for those of you not lucky to know her, is not only the prettiest girl in the world, but she is also smart and funny and will kick your ass if you piss her off. I would hate her for her beauty if I weren't scared of her.

We have been friends since we were a mere 14 years old and there are many a photo of us in genie pants and sporting Aqua-Netted hair lurking in her mother's house. Also, I belive in Reeboks and scrunchy socks. C., introduced us. I am modifying the statement I had here earlier in which I slagged C. off in a very unfriendly manner. It simply wasn't very nice. I haven't spoken to her in many years, and I don't like how judgemental I sounded. She was always a fun girl and although Annemarie and I have our own opinions of what happened within the friendships, I don't want to take away or taint the great memories I have of spending time with her by simply being arch and flip.

Now, Annemarie, who has recently remarried the very hunky and sexy Alejandro, has a big fat job for MAC and is very nice and gets me all sorts of lovely discounts on all Estee Lauder owned brands which is why I practically bathe in La Mer. I do nothing back for her, except apparently blow off her phone calls and make her drink too much once a year when I make my yearly sans enfants trip back to NY.

This being said, Annemarie, I love you and your family and most especially your understanding of my secret hate for giant sectional sofas and why the word, "butter" can make my whole day.

Also, Hugh loves you simply for your movie star good looks, so I have to keep you around as part of my nice wife deal.

***

Now, I want to share some excellent linkage with you. Jen, from Stay at Home Motherdom, has made the jump to Club Mom and, now that she is rubbing elbows with Amalah and Lena and Kristen, she may not want to be my friend anymore so I am here to tell you (cause I am sucky-upy in that way) to go to her blog, read and comment like mad people. Jen is the mother of 2 children and is in the waiting process for a referral for a daughter from China. She is also sober and her honesty about it makes me love her even more. She gives good blog, people.

***

Finally, people I am off. The house is packed up, the dogs are at the kennel and I am forced to stop obsessing and freaking out about the house. I have no greater worries for the next month than, "Did I put sunscreen on the kids?" and "Where should we go for dinner?"

I am bringing my laptop with me so look for blogs with aloha.

Oh, and yes, I took the job.

I am now a writer-for-money.

For a new magazine.

Holy Crap.

You’re way too kind…

As a true New Yorker, the don’t-piss-me-off attitude comes with the territory. You’re version of being aggressive with someone, on the F train for example, is apologizing loudly for the second time while rolling your eyes to the 5 foot tall man you bumped into. So funny.

My sexy husband (seriously, you should see him now with his long hair and a tan) is in Argentina and I’ll be joining him there this weekend.

That’s butta, not butter. Make sure Hugh pronounces it incorrectly!

Anywho, I love reading your blog. The way you write is exactly how you verbally tell a story, so as I read your funny entries a sit belly laughing out loud. I feel like I “see” you with every new entry you post. (I read them all.) You will be an asset to the magazine for sure – YOU CAN DO IT!

Enjoy Hawaii, say hello to your mom. Miss you – love you!

P.S. Here’s what my Dad says anytime I mention your name, “Who?... oh, Kristin, she’s a good looking gal, how’s she doing?”

A writer-for-money? You rock! Which magazine? I'll totally get a subscription. Unless it's porn. Because I probably already have it if it is. Hee.

Also, scrunchy socks! I miss scrunchy socks.

Congrats on the job, and hope you have a blast in Hawaii. Somehow, I don't think that'll be too hard. We put the dogs in a kennel for a weekend (nice one too) and I felt so bad I almost cried. It sounded way to much like the pound. I doubt they even noticed.

If I'm not too late, and you are going to Oahu, you MUST have a Mai Tai at the bar at the Hale Kulani hotel. I used to live in Honolulu and that bar? Not just for tourists for a reason. Also, love your blog. Thanks for letting me crash the party. (Or mele, as they say in the islands ;-))

One can get used to sectional sofas, much like a well-worn-in (out) pair of boxer shorts ... don't know if that's a good thing or not.
