So I receive an email on Thursday, and it is a an invitation to a very cool event up in Los Angeles... a performance of "You've Gotta Have Heart" at the Geffen Playhouse, as well as invitation to pre-show cocktails at the W Hotel and the after-show party where the stars of the evening will mill about (and look at food)... (whee!!) and I will have the opportunity to chat and interview the rather lovely Brenda Strong of Desperate Housewives ... and obviously, I am completely out of my depth and need to come up with some questions/conversation better than "If you were stranded on a desert island which 3 books would you bring?"
Help a girl out Internet... give me some suggestions on how to lose 20 pounds is 2 days what you would ask.
Also, take a minute to check out the website for Events of the Heart... their goal is, using media tools such as books, video, workshops and film, to raise awareness and educate women on the facts of heart disease... it's worth checking out.

Ask her about her music. I saw her being interviewed on a local morning show recently and was talking about that. Apparently she writes and sings (jazz) and recently released an album? (Might wanna research that a bit first)
Have fun! (And let me know if you find that lose 20 lb in 2 days miracle -- lord knows I need it!)
Fun! I'm so jealous!
I love Niontchka's suggestion.
And it might be interesting to find out why she got involved with that particular cause and if it's mandatory on the Desparate Housewives set to have plastic surgery and/or botox... KIDDING!!!
Nino - great suggestion, thank you!
CDJ - my understanding is that her mother suffers from heart disease, so maybe we can stand around and have a medical chat!
Oh, I suck at questions. I love reading other peoples' though.
For losing weight quickly... you can do a lot with clothes these days... But try to eat as little salt as you can and up your fluids (water, not soda) and eat as many raw veggies as you can. That might help shed a couple, anyway.
You are going to do great, I know you are....
I would think stick to the topic of 'You Gotta Have Heart' about her mother and myabe even her grandmother ...
My mother's family all suffer from heart problems... it is something that has to be monitored frequently and I know the angst of what lies ahead for me...
Sounds like a great cause where a great deal can be learned... And you are just the gal to deliver such a great insightful story...
Looking forward to reading all about it!
that's so cool! i'm curious to hear about her music as well
Ask her about her son Zac and tell her that if she misbehaves badly enough she could join the Hollywood elite by being snarked by Mamarazzi.
She'll be putty in your hands.
K, I think she lives part-time in Laguna (I've seen her at a few LB community events), so you may have that in common.
Also, she's super tall, probably 6 feet.
Jenn
So have you figured out your ensemble?
I don't watch Desparate Housewives, and don't know Brenda - so I'm guessing I won't be much help.
But, if she likes music, a good question to ask might be "What song do you wish you had written and why?"
Very exciting! You're a big time girl, aren't you? Ask her what it's like to play a character that nobody hardly ever sees.
You all, I am printing out your questions and reading them off index cards tonight... wish me luck!
Can't wait to meet you! :)
You got some good questions here - I think between the three of us we can keep her entertained for at LEAST 30 seconds. Then we may have to pull out some stupid human trick ;)
I just bought a dress for tonight - it's covered with hearts so I'm hoping it's appropriate in that sense even though it's not very dressy. See you in a few!
Can't wait to hear all about the night!
I'm far too late reading this post, so you'll just have to trust that the conversation topics I was going to suggest would have been brilliant.
Bossy is too busy feeling sorry for herself that she's missing out on fun events to offer advice.
I can't wait to hear how it all went!
I received an email last week to attend a Grand Opening of a resort a few miles from us -- it was AWESOME!
I know the weekend has come and gone, but I hope you asked her if it bothers her to be just a "voice" and have little or no screen time?
C'mon, I want the details!
Marisa
