Warning, Christmas Newsletter Post

***
omg... all the photos... it's photo-palooza.

***

Hey, thanks very much to those of you (and really, there were a lot and that is so, so sweet and kind of cool) who emailed to ask me if I had actually flipped my wig or was it just a rough day and was I ok because their RSS/Bloglines feeds had shown a teaser of a now deleted post which indicated I was on a fast train to basketcase-ville... do not pass GO, do not forget your Xanax.

I really, really, was (nutso)... last week was just one of the longest of my life... it was one of those weeks that had not one spare moment. Every second of my time was accounted for and at the end of the day, instead of retreating to a home that was welcoming and clean, I was (am) returned to an absolute fucking disaster area.

Nothing says, "Welcome Home" like a rent-a-can
tucked neatly in amongst the climbing roses

We actually spent the weekend down at the beach and just the tiny mini-breakness of a night away has made me feel more fit to handle the coming week and it's challenges well, that, and the fact that we leave on Thursday for Santa Fe...

We actually escaped to the beach because Jack celebrated his First Communion on Saturday and, as our house is currently, um, rather inhospitable, we needed a place to have the party. Enter a generous friend who very nicely offered up one of his 8 or so vacation homes... this place sits on a double lot with a paddle tennis court which was very fun for skateboarding tricks and Razor stunts... & what with the 31 people ranging from 3 months to 60ish, it is the perfect place for a party.

Blessed... with extra holy!

It was a special occasion so we wore our party clothes... and then made goofy faces to ensure our mother couldn't get one good photo...

Chad wore his new leather jacket... he is into the "fitted" and "retro" look...

Hugh was envious of said jacket and tried to visibly snatch it off Chad's Captain Morgan and diet Coke body...

It was more fun to let the kids take over the bar as they pour a generous cocktail...

Nice waves...

There may be cuter girls out there, but I sure don't know any...

A fun game is to get your very nice friend, Eilidh, to balance on the scooter and then push her around the sport court and a reckless and perhaps dangerous pace...

Ending the day with a fort built from the neighbor's firepit (oops!) while the sun set was rather excellent... we slept in and woke to the sound of the ocean... lucky, lucky, us...

So, tense week for the mother wraps up with a wonderful party for the son & all is right with the world... at least until Jake's 7:45 am orthondist appointment.

It looks like you got to recover in a beautiful part of the world. Glad you got a chance to destress, if only for a little while.

Okay wow what a fab time you guys had!! Looks like a heck of a lot more fun than the 1st Communion party I attended Saturday. You West Coasters have all the fun that beach life is awesome.

Northern Stargirl & Eastcoastermomma-

There is a long an actually quite sweet story behind Chad's jacket... however, on Saturday, the jacket served merely as a prop to help the other men at the party channel their inner Erik Estrada!

Congrats to Jack on celebrating his first communion. He looked very handsome in his suit (and so did you other kids). Hope this week goes a bit more smoothly for you.

Looks like a great day for everybody. Jack looks spiffy in his jacket.

Sorry about the port-o-potty set up. Those things are nasty. I've got two of those sh*t houses behind my classroom. Can you believe it? The softball teams use them on the weekends.

The jerk who cleans them is supposed to come in the wee hours before school, but he likes to get there at the beginning of the school day and stink up all the portable classrooms. It makes me gag. I don't get paid enough to have to tolerate that kind of crap. ;-) Get it? That kind of crap... whatever.

I want to come live with you. Please? I love it there. I miss my old house down south. I wanna come back!!!

Hope you're feeling better.

You can all come and live with us here in the OC...
In fact that might help us with the mortgage!!!
It was a lovely day. Thanks Kristin for the hospitality. Another great thing about that house... it has a granny flat (what do you peeps call that..?) slightly set aside from the house. I have already housed my mother and father there for the rest of their visits to us.....
Of course, I haven't checked with Mr Many-a-house... but he won't mind, he has another seven!

They are cute kids.

I know what you mean about coming home to a disaster area.

One man + 1 5yr old = disaster area look alike contest

And thanks for stopping by!

Kristin,

I'm going to have to get together with Hugh and teach him how to do my patented tried-and-true full-body massage. Emily LOVES them, and it sounds like you could use one too.

No fair about the beach, though. I want one too.

Cute as hell kids. Glad you got away for awhile.
We need to discuss that jacket though. Anything Erik E. we need to consider toxic and dump it somewhere.
